The Hurst internal stack economizer is a factory-optional device meant to boost a boiler’s operating efficiency, lowering operational expenses during the boiler’s lifespan.

Boilers work by heating water to produce steam, which is then used for heating, processing, or power generation. A boiler is generally quite efficient, although some heat loss might happen when the exhaust gasses produced by combustion are forced out. After combustion, the wasted gases are quite hot, frequently extremely hot, and merely venting them through the exhaust stack means lost heat for the boiler system.

The Hurst stack economizer is a waste heat extraction mechanism that ensures that this potential heat is not wasted. Instead, the heat is reused to prepare the boiler’s makeup water.
